The Akanksha Foundation
The Akanksha Foundation is a non-profit organization, which works primarily in the field of education, addressing non formal education through the Akanksha centres and formal education through the Akanksha Schools.
The Akanksha School Project, which began in 2007, today covers more than 2000 children in 9 schools across Pune and Mumbai. This Project aims at: establishing that every child has the ability to learn and achieve high levels; demonstrating the importance of skilled educators by investing in recruitment and retention of high-quality school staff and effecting systemic reform by using these schools as learning laboratories to improve the quality of education in municipal and low-fee private schools around the country. To support this initiative, Akanksha runs a School Leadership Institute that recruits and trains school leaders as well as an intensive Teacher Training Programme that provides pre and in-service teacher training and development. The organization sources trainers, materials, and best practices from successful educational endeavours both in India and abroad.

“Right from escorting the kids to their places, to settling them in their seats and providing them food, the MI staff made sure nothing went wrong. In fact they said that it was their ‘Nita madam‘s wish that the kids had a fabulous time. I enjoyed it thoroughly too”
