Mumbai Indians welcomes 5 new players to its family
Mumbai Indians added five new overseas players to its family through the IPL 2013 auction held in Chennai today.
Former Australian skipper Ricky Pointing along with his countrymen and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, left-hand batsman Philip Hughes, right-arm fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile and New Zealand’s all-rounder Jacob Oram will be donning the Mumbai Indians Blue for the forthcoming season.
Commenting on the new additions, Mrs. Nita Ambani, Mumbai Indians said, “We have two cricketing greats in Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Pointing in our team now and both will be an inspiration for our youngsters.
“Glenn is an upcoming youngster, an all-rounder and we were looking to have a young all-rounder in the team. We had thought of a few names and he was one of them.”
Mumbai Indians – going into the IPL 2013 – have brought in Anil Kumble as the team’s Chief Mentor along with former India coach John Wright as Head Coach.
Mumbai Indians play its first match of the season on April 3 against RCB in Bangalore.
