Jerome Taylor to replace Malinga

By Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have roped in West Indies pacer Jerome Taylor as the replacement for Lasith Malinga in IPL 2016 who has been ruled out for the season with a recurring knee injury. The 31-year-old will bring pace and accuracy to the MI bowling unit which boasts the likes of Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah and Tim Southee.

Taylor debuted for the West Indies at the young age of 18 and has since gone on to represent the team 147 times in ODIs, Tests and T20Is combined. He became the first West Indian to take a hat-trick, when he dismissed the Australian middle order in the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy. Over the years Taylor has become the spearhead of the West Indian bowling line-up and was also a part of the 2016 ICC World T20 winning squad.

The fiery pacer represented the erstwhile Pune Warriors team in 2011 picking up 6 wickets during the season. Taylor’s addition to the squad will give Ricky Ponting and Co. an additional resource to bolster the MI bowling unit.
