KXIP vs DD – Match Report

DD won their previous match against KXIP with utmost domination at Feroz Shah Kotla. They wanted to repeat their performance to move up the ladder towards playoffs. KXIP were hoping to regain some form quickly, so as to have a chance at this tournament. The wilful DD were looking to make the most of this match as they won the toss and chose to bowl first.

The openers managed to give the hosts a decent start. Murali Vijay and Marcus Stoinis played well throughout the power play, until Vijay threw his wicket to an unnecessary shot against Chris Morris. Stoinis was not able to get the running between the wickets sorted with the debutant Hashim Amla. The poor running between the wickets caused Amla’s departure. Wriddhiman Saha, scored a superb 53 off 33 balls alongside Stoinis who scored 52 off 44 balls. The match was turning out to be monotonous and stagnant when the aggressive batting infused this innings with a much needed boost. Stoinis got out to smartly bowled slower delivery from Zaheer Khan. The duo of Maxwell and Miller couldn’t repeat their predecessor’s performance as Kings XI could just manage 181/5 in their quota of 20 overs.

DD got off to a pretty good start with Quinton De Kock and Sanju Samson. KXIP took time to dismiss the Daredevil openers, and by the time they did, DD were cruising at 121-2 at 13.4 overs. Stoinis pulled the match back with some penetrative bowling. The two Sharma’s bowled accurately with discipline to give KXIP a real chance at winning this game. Kings bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals to win this game for them. The bowlers held their nerves and kept their playoff’s hope alive.
