Ever since the inception of IPL, Mumbai Indians has been one of those teams that have received tremendous support. Even though we hail from Mumbai, our team has received love and support from every part of the country.
It is an absolutely proud moment for us when our Paltan’s support for us resonates our belief of Mumbai Indians, being Dil Se Indian. When we had to move away from our home Wankhede stadium and play the rest of our home games at the ACA-VDCA stadium (Vizag), our fans welcomed us with open arms and cheered for MI in all the matches. Our Paltan made us feel at home in Vizag when they came in great numbers and cheered their hearts out. Our fans covered the stadium in a sea of blue, and we felt right at home.

One instance that we can never forget was the reception at Lucknow. When we were in Lucknow, training before our last match against GL, we were surprised to see so many of our fans coming in to watch their favourite stars practice. The Paltan cheered every shot played by the players at practice and in nets. Head Coach Ricky Ponting, got one of the loudest cheers when he was checking the pitch. The players were rejuvenated with the energy of the crowd as they acknowledged their support after the practice session by clicking selfies and signing autographs for our fans. Such has been the support from our Paltan, not just this season but through all editions of the IPL.

The support for MI is not just restricted to India, but it comes from all over the world. When the second season of the IPL was conducted in South Africa, our fans poured in the thousands and cheered us on. When the tournament shifted to UAE, our Paltan put on the blue colours and roared for us. In Australia, Aiden Blizzard’s nephew donned the MI jersey to his school for a cross-culture programme which goes on to show that even for the players, it’s a case of “Once MI, always MI!”

It has been a beautiful journey that we have embarked upon and our fans have been gracious and supportive wherever we go. They have reverberated our belief of being Dil Se Indians! We would like to thank our Paltan for being so amazing. Their show of support is what keeps us going. See you in the next IPL, till then.
