DCvMI: Two iconic cities, two similar campaigns, one epic battle

By Mumbai Indians

It’s a trip to the north as the Mumbai Indians’ new ‘win-everything’ mission kicks off against the Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 26. Here's where we hope things actually go north.

20 days ago, these two teams clashed, and the resounding cheers of 18,000 passionate children in our eternal abode - the Wankhede Stadium - propelled our MI Boys to our first triumph of the season. Tomorrow, we count on the same unwavering support and energy from the fans journeying to the Arun Jaitley Stadium to catapult us to another glorious WIN.

Speaking of the head-to-head record, MI are comfortably ahead with 19 wins in 34 IPL meetings and are enjoying a three-match winning run.

But make no mistake—Delhi came close to beating us in the reverse fixture. The hosts are coming off a narrow four-run win over Gujarat Titans. Tristan Stubbs, Anrich Nortje, spin wizard Kuldeep Yadav, and DC skipper Rishabh Pant will be the ones to watch out for in tomorrow afternoon's meeting.

But worry not. The fiery pace power of Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee, the red-hot opening partnership of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan at the top, and the middle-order infantry pivoted by Aapla Dada Surya, Tod-fod Tim Bhau, and captain Hardik Pandya are all set to conquer Delhi.

What: Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians

When: Saturday, April 27, 2024

Where: Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi

What to expect: A seriously hot afternoon outing in Delhi and an equally pulsating game of cricket. Pant vs Bumrah, an eruption of runs and wickets on a dicy and unpredictable pitch and the possible intrusion by the weather gods.

What you need to do: Carry your travel essentials, including an umbrella to shield yourself from the sun and the six-shower. Recharge your vocal cords and sing your MI songs so that they echo through every inch and corner of the Arun Jaitley Stadium. And keep pushing the MI boys to deliver you Blue and Gold moments of joy.
