MIvRCB report: No, no, no! Oh this heartbreak :(

By Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians had this game in their grasp. We really did. But when it is the opposition’s day, you’ve just got to doff your hat. Today was one such day. A match we bossed for a large part, sadly goes away..

Nadine continues her dream India run

The last few months have been a purple patch for Nadine de Klerk, starting with her pulling off run chases in the World Cup, and she’s brought that to the WPL now, pulling off the chase for RCB. Our bowlers tried, missed our lengths a touch, and she took toll. 18 runs were needed off the last four balls, and she finished it with 6, 4, 6, 4.

There were positives though, Paltan. Let’s not get too disheartened. Theses will hold us in good stead over the next month. It’s a long tournament, don’t worry.

Kamaal chi Kamalini

Like a duck to water, was Kamalini G to the opening slot. She’s done her bit impressing us last year when she finished a game in style on debut. RCB will remember. And they were given another tonight, this time in the form of Kamalini, the opener. A well-crafted 28-ball 32 with five fours, and the warning is sent to all other teams, loud and clear!

Smash it like Sajana

At 67/4 the team was in a slight bit of bother. Not when Sajana Sajeevan was around. With Nicola Carey (40 off 29) shining on debut, Sajana went on a rampage – 45 runs | 25 balls | 7 fours | 1 six. Together, they lifted MI beyond 150, a fighting score, a match-winning score.

Triggering a collapse, Mumbai-eshtyle!

RCB were off to a flier, 40/0 inside the fourth over. But Shabnim Ismail, the warhorse, got rid of Smriti Mandhana. Nat Sciver-Brunt then got Grace Harris, before Amanjot and Amelia Kerr joined forces to lengthen the collapase. From 40/0 to 65/5.

Sadly, a missed opportunity in the final overs

Nadine and Arundhati Reddy had a good stand to keep RCB in the hunt, but once Reddy fell, it looked like we had it. But a couple of drop catches didn’t help our cause. Nor did Nadine being in prime form. It wasn’t to be. But worry not, there’s no time to brood over this. We have an opportunity to set it right immediately with another game tomorrow. Chin up!
