SRH vs KXlP – Match Report

By Mumbai Indians

Sunrisers Hyderabad who is on a winning streak faced the Kings Xl Punjab at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium. SRH coming with two consecutive wins in their previous matches were looking to continue with their winning form against Kings Xl Punjab who are currently positioned at the bottom of the table. SRH won the toss and chose to field first looking to restrict Kings Xl and chase the target.

If Warner and Dhawan made light of the target given to them, much of the credit for setting up the win must go the SRH bowlers who kept the visitors down to an under-par score. SRH drew the first blood when they got the wicket of Murali Vijay in the third over. Manan Vohra continued with his good form till he was run out. Kings Xl once again lost wickets together when David Miller and Glenn Maxwell were dismissed in the same over. Shaun Marsh who was the sheet anchor in the previous match, tried to repeat his heroics but he was adjudged LBW in the 14th over when Kings Xl were reeling at 90-5. Axar Patel and Nikhil Naik played a cameo to put a competitive total of 143 runs. Axar scored a quick fire 36 off just balls 17 balls which helped them reach 143.

The openers took off from where they left it against the Gujarat Lions. David Warner started clobbering the bowlers all around the ground as he scored 59 off 31 balls and it looked as if the duo will once again take SRH to victory when David Warner was caught on the boundary line trying to hit another six. The openers put a partnership of 90 runs from 59 balls. Aditya Tare, who came in at number 3, lost his wicket without troubling the scorers. Kings Xl managed to get wickets at regular intervals but it was too late for SRH as they comfortably sailed through with 13 balls to spare and 5 wickets in hand. SRH has got their third successive win and it looks like they are the dark horses of this IPL and are looking like one of the contenders for the paly off spot.
