From the domestic grind and stables of Punjab cricket to the glitz of Wankhede Stadium. From MI dreams to India A and finally… the Sher-E-Punjab T20 storm to the biggest call up of his career. Our very own Naman Dhir’s journey has come full circle as he earned his maiden senior national call up having been picked in the India ODI squad for the upcoming home series versus West Indies, starting 27th September 2026 in Thiruvananthapuram. 

Turning heads in Blue and Gold, he kept learning, improving and knocking on the big doors of success. It has always been about that all- round skill set for Naman Bhau. The ability to bat with intent, take on the bowler’s heads on, contribute with the ball and grab onto each catch that came his way. We at MI always saw something special in him…the power, the fearless intent and the ability to change the game with tremendous hunger to keep learning and evolving.

Rolling back the clock, he made heads turn during his maiden IPL stint in 2024, with that all important 28 ball 62 against Lucknow Super Giants. That performance was indeed the crucial breakthrough for him in white ball cricket. Having earned opportunities in the India A set up in 2025, including the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup, he continued to grow within the cricketing universe. Every key experience added another layer to his game.

Rewarded for a splendid show with the bat during the recently concluded Sher-E-Punjab T20 tournament, having smashed 655 runs, aced with 49 fours, 49 sixes and a humungous SR-217.61, best figures of 173 in 64 balls. It was that kind of an innings that doesn’t just win a match, it demands attention. Eight days later, that special India call came.

Naman has the ability to change the tempo of any match with his fearless power hitting skills. He is particularly dangerous when he gets his eye in, with the ability to play pace and spin which can turn an innings on its head. Give him the platform and he will transform it with his special capabilities. Punjab gave him the foundation, Blue and Gold introduced him to the biggest stage, India A gave him a glimpse of what success looks like and finally representing INDIA has now opened the door of his dreams. For Naman Dhir, it is a new bucket list tick.
