The best performers this season

The league stage of the 9th edition of the IPL has come to an end and has left us in awe of some mind blowing performances throughout the tournament. There have been many incredible performers for us this season who have shouldered the responsibility and delivered key performances at crucial times.

One of the top performers for us will be the captain himself who has done well up front, right through the tournament. Our Hitman has given us the best starts alongside changing partners throughout the tournament. Sharma is also the leading run scorer for us with 489 runs. He has been in prime form, especially while chasing and took us through important victories. However, his efforts couldn’t take us the distance this season which will be his prime focus next year!

If on a given day our top order stumbled we always had Mr. Dependable, Ambati Rayudu, to fall back on. He has rebuilt our innings a number of times after an initial loss of wickets. He is the second highest run-scorer for MI at 334 runs. Our batting prowess doesn’t end here as we have the explosive KP’s (Kieron Pollard & Krunal Pandya) and Jos Buttler in our ranks, all of whom can chase down any target on their day.

Last year we had the younger Pandya brother shining for us. This year we have Krunal Pandya who has been phenomenal through the tournament. He proved himself time and again with the bat and the ball. He registered the highest individual score this season for MI with a whirlwind knock of 86 against DD. He also boasts the best strike rate this season and has been the most economical bowler for MI with an economy rate of 7.57. He has been a great revelation this season and is one to watch for the future.

Mitchell McClenaghan donned the purple cap for most of the season as he led the chart in the wicket takers column. He ended this IPL with a whopping 17 wickets and did well to lead the pace attack. Jasprit Bumrah who has been brilliant in the year 2016, continued his good form as he ended his IPL with 15 wickets. The bowling department has been absolutely wonderful for us this season, even after the unavailability of our strike bowler, Lasith Malinga.

All the players have been incredible for us this season and even though we didn’t qualify we gave it our best and have given our fans many moments to cheer. We hope we can come back stronger next year, to win it for our Paltan.
