Bhagwat's six-wicket haul takes Bishop's over the line
Pune: Omkar Bhagwat's superb bowling performance helped The Bishop's School, Camp overcome The Kalyani School's challenge by 15 runs in the Pune Leg of Mumbai Indians Junior Cricket Tournament 2020 at VDR, Wadgaon on Friday.
Bhagwat took a six-wicket haul to plant the collapse of the Kalyani batting line-up who were chasing a low score in the Boys U-14 category match. The Bishop's School had managed to put up just 153 on the board before their innings got wrapped up in 31 overs. Jinay Gadiya (31) and Yash Kumbhar (24) came up with crucial knocks to give their bowlers a chance to put pressure on opponents.
Bishop's bowlers thrived under pressure to send ripples across the Kalyani batting line-up. Bhagwat was the wrecker-in-chief giving away just 23 runs in his eight overs and accounting for six batsmen. Bhagwat got good support from rest of the bowlers who bowled a disciplined line to dry up the runs. Kalyani played nearly five overs more than their rivals but they collectively just managed 138 before losing all wickets.
In another tough match at the Parande 2 ground, Rudra Deshmukh led from the front to guide Sheth Dagduram Katariya School to a thrilling one-wicket win against Sinhgad City School.
Deshmukh scored an unbeaten 58 off 50 balls to help Sheth Dagduram chase down the target of 165 in the last over with just a wicket in hand. He earlier chipped in with the ball by taking a wicket to play a hand in limiting Sinhgad City School to 164 all-out in 40 overs.
