ENGvIND 3rd T20I report: Not India’s day at Trent Bridge, but the fight goes on…

Sometimes, things do not go according to plan, but we shall continue to rally behind the Men in Blue no matter what. England won the contest by 125 during the 3rd T20I at Trent Bridge, Nottingham and went up 2-0 in the series. India now just has a day’s gap to turn things around and get that first win of the series…

Prince Yadav, the man with the golden arm strikes

Right arm fast, Prince Yadav struck twice in his first two overs giving India the breakthrough they were looking for… He first grabbed the wicket of Jos Buttler who seemed to have gone berserk within the first six overs of powerplay. Buttler was zapped by a beautiful delivery, a yorker that dipped late and knocked off the bails. Prince then snapped the key wicket of skipper Harry Brook on 16 as Abhishek Sharma made no mistake at deep mid-wicket to complete the catch. He ended with figures of 2/30 in his four overs.

Harshit shines with two back-to-back scalps during the 12th over

Jacob Bethell (13) and Tom Banton who went out for a golden duck had no answer to Harshit Rana’s good bowling. He picked both wickets during the 11.5 and 11.6 overs. The batters looked to power England to a massive total but their stay at the crease was cut short by a brilliant plan executed by Rana. After a good start, England found themselves at 111/4.

Phil Salt smashes a brilliant half ton, Curran’s quick-fire 41

English opener Phil Salt was at his best right from the beginning, playing shots all over the park. He picked the lengths early, read the Indian bowlers well and made sure the score board kept ticking with runs. While he was at the crease, India did feel the pressure…But just then Axar Patel raised his hand and took the wicket of Phil on 70(44) as he went to slog, but ended up getting caught by Arshdeep Singh.

Sam Curran at the other end ensured the Englishmen crossed the 200 plus mark, indeed a fighting total to put on the board. He looked to go for the big hits and brought his side right back into the contest. He ended with an unbeaten 24 balls 41, laced with four boundaries.

England scored 201/7 in their 20 overs.

Just not India’s day…

India was reeling at 68/8 in 9.2 overs. A top order collapse put India on the back foot early on. Josh Tongue and Jofra Archer were on fire for England. Climbing a steep hill, India found themselves derailed within the powerplay itself. India could never recover as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. England’s fielding was top notch, taking every catch that came their way. Josh Tongue picked 4/28 in four overs while Jofra Archer snapped 3/29 in three overs.

India was 76 all out in 11.4 overs, handing England a massive win by 125 runs.
