#MilestoneAlert: Aapli Kaptaan Kaur becomes first player to 200 T20I caps!
Paltan, there are milestones, then there are moments that alter the shape of history itself which are truly iconic in every sense. The story of our very own Mumbaichi Mulgi Harmanpreet Kaur. As she walks out today for her 200th T20 International Match when India takes on South Africa during the women’s T20 World Cup in England, she is celebrating a legacy that has changed the game forever. In a format which is designed to move in a rapid manner, the Indian skipper has built something timeless. She became the first player in cricket history to reach the landmark, adding another golden star to her growing career.
From a young girl with a dream to now reaching the double century mark, she inspires generations to come… with her courage, longevity and commitment towards the most loved sport in the world. A complete powerhouse with the bat, every time she walks onto the field. Not just alone for team India but even at Mumbai Indians we have been a witness to her champion mentality, her hunger to compete, her kindness, empathy towards her teammates, a desire to always keep her side together and her never give up attitude on field. These are the qualities that make our very own Harman special.
Walking down memory lane and reminiscing about some of her career defining T20 knocks. Kaptaan Kaur announced herself as a complete superstar with her best knock, a 103 in just 51 balls versus New Zealand during the 2018 women’s T20 World Cup opener, smashing seven fours and eight sixes. This historic feat made her the first Indian woman to smash a T20 century. Her great 65 off 43 featuring seven fours and two sixes is still remembered even today…and came against the Australian women during the gold medal final match of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Indeed, the queen of Indian women’s cricket, when history called, Harmanpreet Kaur answered in style. The journey from a young dreamer to a trailblazer is complete, but the iconic journey from trailblazer to legend will continue for a long time to come. Congratulations Harry Di, here’s to every milestone conquered, every barrier broken and every young girl inspired by your journey. The story of women’s cricket will always be told with your name in bold, across history books.
