IND vs ENG: MAGICIAN BUMRAH inspires fightback at Vizag

V for Vizag, V for Victory! 2016 relived! India put on a masterclass to outclass England for the second time in a Test match at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vishakhapatnam.

Be it the bat or the ball; the hosts made apt use of the opportunities and the momentum generated from their first innings lead of 143 runs to ascend to the top of an adrenaline-driven game of cricket.

Here are the key moments of the second India vs England Test.

Yashasvi runs riot!

Bred on the rough-and-tough fields of dreams in Mumbai, Yashasvi Jaiswal brought the exhilarating hunger for runs to the Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vishakhapatnam and slammed a match-defining 209 runs off 290 runs.

Textbook shots, mature confidence, commitment, and all positive attributes took the surface as the young Indian opener reached 150 runs on Day 1 and completed the double hundred on Day 2, helping India post a first-innings score of 396 in 112 overs.

Jas simply AMAZING

Do you want Bumrah to take wickets? You got it. Do you want stumps broken? You got it. Do you want a five-wicket haul? You got it. Just SIMPLY AMAZING.

BOOM BOOM went on a carnage run against the England batting order on Day 2, pocketing six wickets for just 45 runs. This spell included two iconic toe-crushing yorkers that uprooted the stumps of Ollie Pope and England skipper Ben Stokes.

Shubman Gill ton and a target of 399

Carrying a lead of 143 runs from the first innings, India would eventually post 255 in their second innings. Stamping his claim on the number three spot, Shubman Gill tailored his way to a composed 147-ball 104 that was laced with 11 fours and two sixes. Ably supported by Axar Patel (45), Gill carried India past 200 runs and set the stage for India to defend 399 runs.

Dominant Day 4 for India

The spin trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav enforced the pressure wave on the English batters as they reduced the visitors to 194/5 from 67/1 within 42 overs, despite a fighting half-century from Zak Crawley (73). Jasprit Bumrah’s dismissal of Jonny Bairstow meant India would pocket five wickets inside the first session on Day 4.

While there was a mild ray of hope for England to keep the run chase alive, the run out of Ben Stokes by Shreyas Iyer followed by double strikes from Jasprit Bumrah, brought the match firmly into India’s pocket.

Brief scores: India 396 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 209; Jimmy Anderson 3/47) and 225 (Shubman Gill 104, Tom Hartley 4/77) BEAT England 253 (Zak Crawley 76; Jasprit Bumrah 6/45) and 292 (Zak Crawley 73; Jasprit Bumrah 3/46) by 106 runs.
