India aim for second-consecutive T20I clean sweep
After defending a total and chasing down a big one in the first two T20Is, India will be eyeing another positive result in the 3rd T20I at Dharamsala against Sri Lanka.
India does have some things to look forward to.
Records within touching distance
India are currently on an 11-game winning streak in T20Is, their longest such run in this format. A victory in the final T20I will take them to 12 in a row, equalling the record for the longest-winning streak in T20Is, currently jointly held by Afghanistan and Romania.
They could also move clear of New Zealand with their 40th win at home in the third T20I. Currently, India and New Zealand have won 39 T20Is each in their respective home countries.
If they win the third T20I, it will be India’s 17th win against Sri Lanka in this format, which will be another record for most wins against a particular team.
Sri Lanka to play for pride
While they may have lost the series, Sri Lanka will still be keen to notch one win in the T20Is.
Skipper Dasun Shanaka showed his hitting prowess while Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka have shown glimpses of their ability.
Shanaka will be looking for a better response from his bowlers though.
Let’s hope India comes out all guns blazing and completes another T20I series whitewash!
