India, South Africa, and Perth

Traditionally, typically, with the India of the old, just the scheduling of this game at this venue would’ve been enough to get us Indian fans worried. The world’s quickest pitch, with the ball bouncing around, against the Proteas who’ve grown up in very similar conditions. They even have the world’s fastest bowler in their side, who is in some serious form too.

Nope, not any more. Not with this new India. And certainly not with this new India in this mood. Bring on the heat, we say!

So India are on a roll. Their big guns have announced their arrival. And now, they have to face what arguably is going to be the toughest challenge they’d be facing in this group stage: South Africa. So South Africa have never really come into a T20 World Cup as the favourites, and on multiple occasions, have punched well under their weight. But this time, they seem to have ticked most boxes, they have found some consistency, and more importantly, are playing a strong, aggressive brand of cricket. Also, they have a super-impressive NRR.

With Pakistan having lost to Zimbabwe, a win for India here should all but seal a semi-final spot. South Africa would be equally desperate to get one over the line. Remember, rain denied them a certain victory over Zimbabwe, and losing this match could complicate their chances.
