Ladies, take a bow!  From the glitz of the Asia Cup to the GOLDEN dazzle of the Asian Games 2026, Kaptaan Kaur and the Women in Blue have carried the winning momentum forward onto new shores. After being recently crowned ‘Queens of Asia’… the Indian contingent surely had unfinished business, this time on Japanese soil. In came a different challenge, a new country, unfamiliar conditions but this unit always gave more than their hundred percent time and again. From the moment they set foot on the ground, the mission was loud and clear…compete, conquer and bring home another medal. India won back to back Asian Games Gold medals (2023 and 2026) thus making the nation proud. 

What a magnificent win to clinch the gold medal in style beating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in Japan. The Lankan’s last beat India in the 2024 Asia Cup final, but from there onwards the Indian Women have won eight straight T20I’s against them. India notched up a humongous 216/3 in 20 overs courtesy Smriti Mandhana’s 79(45), Shafali Verma’s 48 and Richa Ghosh 49*(22). In reply, the Lankans were bowled out for 69 in 15.4 overs. Deepti Sharma ended with figures of 3/6.    

Every game has seen a team effort where the bowlers hunted in packs, the batters attacked with freedom, and the young guns stepped up, taken responsibility without fear. Such a big platform can definitely bring added pressure and expectations from a billion fans back home. But the Indian Women embraced it all, believing in themselves and in each other. Every boundary smashed brought a roar, every wicket brought them another step closer and more over every win added another layer to this unforgettable journey.

Earlier, India started off their Asian Games campaign with a win during the quarter final versus Japan in Nisshin by eight wickets. Chasing down the target of 58 comfortably. Shree Charani starred with the ball, snapping up 4/10 in four overs while Shafali Verma made 40*(15). A victory followed by a margin of 114 runs during the semi-final facing Bangladesh. What a day it was for Shafali, scoring her maiden white ball international century and the first player to score a ton in the Asian Games. She smashed 100 not out in 49 balls, aced with three fours and nine sixes, SR-204.08. Our very own Harmanpreet Kaur also contributed a valuable 40. The Sharma girls, Nandini and Deepti both picked three wickets each.

From grit to glory, India played with flair, leaving their mighty blue imprint everywhere. With every run and cheer, our girls indeed made their presence felt loud and clear.  INDIAAAA, INDIAAAA!
