Mumbai Indians have mastered the art of great finishes, especially when they have faced Delhi Capitals over the years. Paltan, we have found ways to turn high intensity clashes into timeless tales. When the big stage and pressure situations demand, the men in blue and gold simply say…bring it on. The 5-time IPL champions have turned ordinary evenings into extraordinary memories. They kicked off their IPL 2026 campaign on a winning note four days ago. Now, when our heroes walk onto the field to face DC during our second encounter, fans just feel something special is brewing. As our next clash beckons, it is time to rise and succeed.

Let us look at some of MI’s most memorable moments over the years versus Delhi.

The yorker king-Malinga claims a 5-fer (2011)

 

In 2011, POTM Lasith Malinga bowled a magical spell of (5/13) in his 4 overs, claiming the third-best figures in IPL and produced a career best performance for MI. The wicket taking specialist, ripped through the then Delhi Daredevils batting with an economy of just 3.54, bowling four of his five victims with trademark yorkers and slower deliveries.

2017, saw Kieron Pollard smash 63 not out in just 35 balls, aced with 5 fours and 4 sixes helping MI notch up a massive total of 212/3 in their 20 overs. The Daredevils found themselves on the back foot, as the men in blue and gold stormed into the playoffs winning by 146 runs.

Mumbai Indians clinch a captivating 5-wicket win during the IPL final in Dubai (2020)

POTM Trent Boult struck with thunder and lightning in the middle (3/30) in his 4 overs to restrict DC to 156/7 in their 20 overs. The men in blue and gold threads chased it down with eight balls remaining… thanks to Rohit Sharma’s special opening knock of 68 in 51 balls, laced with 5 fours and 4 sixes.

MI secure a win in last ball thriller (2023)

On 11th April 2023, the Paltan witnessed a breath-taking last ball thriller as MI won by 6 wickets versus DC, chasing 173/4 in 20 overs. POTM Rohit Sharma’s knock of 65(45) including 6 fours and 4 sixes was match-defining. While our very own Tilak, also played well for his 41 in just 29 balls. Back then, this was MI’s first win of that season.

Mumbai Indians grab victory from the jaws of defeat (2025)

This was always going to be Delhi Capitals’ game, somehow…somewhere Paltan’s prayers were answered as the men in blue and gold clinched a 12-run nerve wrecking victory last year, after scoring 205/5. When the game spirals into chaos, you toss the ball to Jasprit Bumrah. That 19th over of Boom was electric, as three run outs were witnessed. JB’s over turned the tide…with MI reminding the world, pressure is their playground.
