ISHAN-tastic ton, SHAMS-iful fightback light up Duleep round 2

Our Pocket Dynamo has landed! Ishan Kishan started off his Duleep Trophy 2024 campaign with a bang. After missing the first-round match with an injury, our star southpaw quickly made up for lost time with an entertaining 111 from just 126 balls for India C against India B at Anantapur.

Coming in at 97/2 after the fall of two quick wickets, Kishan sent the bowlers on a leather hunt with his onslaught smashing 14 fours and three sixes in typical fashion. He added 189 runs for the third wicket with Baba Indrajith and the bowlers had relief more than joy when he finally departed.

Meanwhile, Shams Mulani was also making news at a different ground in Anantapur, albeit with a different style of knock, but was equally effective. Walking into the middle with his India A side in trouble at 93/5, Shams displayed adorable grit and character. He has been there and he has done it. It’s a role he’s perfected over the years!

Yet again Shams grinded the bowling attack with a patient half-century (88*), bailing out his side to a respectable position of 288/8 at the end of the first day’s play. First, the left-hander added 51 runs for the sixth wicket with Kumar Kushagra and then put on another valuable 91-run stand with his Mumbai mate Tanush Kotian.

Let’s bring the century home, Shams!
