Jadeja, Chahal, Natarajan power India to victory at Manuka Oval
The Men in Blue started the T20I series on a winning note as they defeated Australia by 11 runs at the Manuka Oval at Canberra.
Put to bat first, India struggled to get going with the bat before Jadeja's onslaught in the end helped India cross the 160-run mark.
Australia on the other hand were bamboozled by the Indian bowling lineup as they were restricted to 150/7 in their 20 overs.
We take you through some of the talking points of the first T20 international between Australia and India.
KL Rahul continues to shine in the shortest format
The Indian opener continued his good form in the shortest format. Carrying it from where he left in the IPL, KL Rahul posted his 12th half-century in T20Is to help the visitors get going even though wickets kept falling at regular intervals.
Ravindra Jadeja provides the finishing touch
Reduced to 92/5 and further 114/6, Team India were in a spot of bother. However, Ravindra Jadeja turned the tables in the last couple of overs with a quickfire 44* (23) to steer the total beyond 160.
Finch and Short start well
The Australian openers were off to a steady start as they put up a fifty-run partnership for the first wicket. While Finch played an aggressor, Short batted cautiously throughout his innings before finally giving in to the pressure.
From concussion substitute to winning Man of the Match
Not featuring in the initial playing XI, Yuzvendra Chahal came in as a concussion substitute. He drew first blood taking Aaron Finch's wicket after Hardik Pandya dived for a fantastic catch at long-off.
The leg-spinner went on to pick Steve Smith and Matthew Wade's wickets and ended up becoming the first concussion substitute to win the Man of the Match.
New superstar in Indian bowling attack?
Making his debut in the shortest format, Natarajan not only picked wickets off the yorker but also the length deliveries. He first got rid of Maxwell in his second over. Then he came back to get rid of D Arcy Short and Mitchell Starc to finish with 3/30.
