MI Junior 2024: Chatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School, St. Francis Xaviers High School seal comfortable wins
Chatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School, Vile Parle trounced I.E.S. School, Bhandup by a huge margin of 218 runs in an MI Junior Boys’ Under-14 league game in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Riding on a well made century by Aarush Jadhav (100 off 98), CNMS stacked up a total of 266 runs in 40 overs. Leg-spinner Shaurya Katkade (7 for 12) then weaved his magic to topple IES for just 48 runs.
Meanwhile, Aaghestya Upadhay starred with bat and ball to guide DG Khetan International School, Malad to a comfortable 8-wicket victory against St. Francis Xaviers High School, Kanjurmarg in another Boys’ Under-14 league clash.
A stellar five-for by Aaghestya (5 for 19) restricted St. Francis to a below-par total of 151 runs. Aaghestya was then instrumental with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 82 to lead DG Khetan across the finish line in 24.1 overs.
In another Boys’ Under-14 league game, clinical tons by Nirbhay Keni (142 off 131) and Prayag Sanjay Shah (101 off 95) fired Tarapur Vidyamandir, Palghar to an impressive total of 271/3 in 40 overs against Hiranandani Foundation School, Powai. In response, Hiranandani were limited to a measly 94 runs, with Nehal Mehar (3 for 12) taking three crucial scalps.
Elsewhere, in the Girls’ Under-15 league stage in Mumbai, Madhura Dhadke (4-6) and Sarrathi Bhakare (3 for 5) wreaked havoc to run over Shantiniketan Public School, New Panvel for a miniscule 25 runs. Opponents Shardashram Vidyamandir, Dadar easily chased down the target in 1.5 overs without any hiccups.
