MI Junior 2024: Sinhgad City School clinch Girls’ Under-15, Boys’ Under-16 titles; Angel Mickey Minie School win Boys’ Under-14 title
The Pune leg of the fourth edition of the MI Junior Inter-School Tournament concluded on Friday with Sinhgad City School (Girls’ Under-15 and Boys’ Under-16) and Angel Mickey Minie School (Boys’ Under-14) emerging triumphant.
This year, a total of 18 schools and 28 team took part in the tournament. Over 400 kids played in this edition in Pune.
In a one-sided affair, Sinhgad City School crushed Kalyani School by 457 runs to win the prestigious Boys’ Under-16 title in the Mumbai Indians Junior tournament’s final in Pune on Friday.
Riding on stellar centuries by Sairaj Shelar (160 off 80), Om Kamthe (123 off 64) and Shivraj Suryavanshi (103 off 53), Sinhgad City School posted a mammoth total of 507/5 in 40 overs. With the job only half done, Shivratna Suryavanshi (6 for 32) and Sairaj (4 for 10) delivered with the ball to bowl out The Kalyani School for just 50 runs.
Sinhgad City claimed their second trophy of the day by thumping Jai Hind High School, Pimpri by 9 wickets in the final of the Girls’ Under-15 category.
Opting to bat first, Jai Hind were restricted to 136/8 in 20 overs thanks to a superb spell by Vrinda Suraj Yadav (3-28). Srushti Sunil Suryavanshi (59 off 33) was the architect of the chase for Sinhgad City, guiding them to victory in just 12.4 overs.
Meanwhile, in the Boys’ Under-14 final in Pune, Kaustubh Sawant (4 for 27) came up with a special performance to lead Angel Mickey Minie School to a 53-run win over The Kalyani School.
Put in to bat, Angel Mickey managed a gritty total of 189 in 40 overs, before bundling out The Kalyani School for 136, courtesy of an inspired bowling performance by Kaustubh.
This season also saw female umpires and scorers be involved in the conduct of the matches after the success of the initiative in the previous season.

BOYS U16 (Final)
