The Mumbai Indians are one of the IPL favorites this year and being the defending champions, there is a lot riding on every MI game. Apart from our recent resurgence, in the form of a trifecta against KXIP, KKR and RPS, individuals have made an emphatic mark on IPL 2016.

Skipper Rohit Sharma, besides leading the charge, has given fans many reasons to be proud of him. With his unbeaten knock of 85 runs against the Rising Pune Supergiants in the recently concluded game, Rohit Sharma achieved yet another milestone in the T20 format of scoring 6000 runs. He is the second Indian after Suresh Raina and seventh player in IPL history to have achieved this feat. He also scored his 300th IPL four in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders and made five 50-plus scores while chasing for the win in this IPL. This is the highest for any player in any edition of the IPL. Chris Gayle (2012), David Miller (2013), Shaun Marsh (2008) and David Warner (2016) have scored 4 50-plus scores in chases in an IPL season. Rohit Sharma’s batting average while chasing is 182.00 this season so far. He has remained not-out on three of the five occasions he has chased. His tally of 364 runs while chasing this IPL, makes it the fifth-highest score for any batsman in the IPL.

The Caribbean Carnage, Kieron Pollard made his fastest fifty for us in this IPL against KKR, in 17 balls, breaking Harbhajan’s record of 19 balls against KXIP and Robin Uthappa’s 22 ball records. Besides this he played his 100th game for MI against KKR. He is two more sixes away from becoming the second batsman after Chris Gayle (637 sixes) to hit 400 sixes in Twenty20 Cricket.

In the bowling department Mitchell McClenaghan, currently holds the Purple Cap with 13 wickets under his belt from 9 matches with an economy of 7.97 so far. With the way wickets keep dropping around him, the purple cap looks like his for the taking. He is closely followed by Jasprit Bumrah with 11 wickets from 9 matches with an economy of 8.08.
