MIvsRCB Preview: WAR time - Wankhede. Avenge. RCB
Let’s be honest, the loss to Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk didn’t help our playoff prospects. But always remember one thing - IPL का कमबैक किंग कौन? मुंबई.
Just how many times have we secured a playoff spot against all odds? Remember 2013, 2014 and, of course, 2015. Heading into Tuesday’s clash against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede, Rohit Sharma and the boys know exactly what’s required, and how to get what’s required. The points table is a neutral fan’s delight. It’s just so scrambled.
RCB - like us - are on 10 points from 10 matches. A win here will catapult us into the top half. What also awaits is revenge. Our trip to the Chinnaswamy for our IPL 2023 season opener back in April didn’t quite go our way but this time, we are playing in our own backyard, where we have won six of our nine clashes against RCB.
What: Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore
When: Tuesday, May 9 2023
Where: Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai
What to expect: Rohit vs Virat….enough said! And there’s always SKY vs Siraj and Piyush vs Faf, amongst other mouthwatering duels, to look forward to. A packed stadium, loud fans, and the feeling of a cauldron.
What you need to do: Paltan, our MI boys will be playing three of their remaining four league stage fixtures, starting with the clash against RCB, at the Wankhede…our home. And let’s just say, we like these odds. You know the drill - put on those Blue and Gold stripes, dab on that war paint and chant ‘let’s go, मुंबई’…
What they said: “Now, till the end of the tournament, is going to be quite ruthless. You win a couple of games and you’re second, you lose a couple and you’re second last. We need to put our best foot forward. We have an incredible team and we need to back our strengths,” Cameron Green about playoff battle.
“We will continue to play with aggression, show the same intent. Sometimes you need to be clever on different wickets but we have some incredibly experienced guys like Rohit, Ishan and SKY batting around me. There’s a lot of really good cricketing brains around to figure out how to go about it,” Cameron Green on the team’s approach in the upcoming games.

Time to get that Mumbai spirit out folks. It’s time to get Khadoos. It’s time to book our play-off spot.
