RCBvMI report: AND WE ARE BACKK!! Ft. The first WPL centurion, Aapli Nat
This is what we were talking about. This is the Mumbai Indians we know. Dominant. Clinical. Just refusing to let the foot off the gas when the backs were to the wall. A complete team performance. A win that has put us back on track, and now back up at second spot on the points table. This year’s WPL has come a full circle, what started off as a heartbreak against RCB, has now firmly been put behind us.
Powerplay woes to powerplay woohoos
So a large part of the discussion over the last three games was around Mumbai Indians’ powerplay worries, both with bat and ball. That’s been settled. 38/1 with the bat, 40/5 with the ball. Okay, now that aside, onto tonight’s big celebration..
Nat chi KADAK 100!
It’s only fair that the Queen has the crown. After four seasons and numerous games, the Women’s Premier League has a centurion. Nat Sciver-Brunt put on an absolute show – 57 balls | 16 fours | 1 six .. timing her shots and her innings to perfection, lifting MI to a whopping 199/4.
Hayley AaliRe
The storm has officially hit the pitch. Her intentions were signaled immediately, off the first ball of the innings when she pulled Lauren Bell – the most economical bowler in the powerplay this season – for a boundary. She was happy to play second fiddle to Nat at first, quickly then shifting gears and matching her shot for shot in what ended up being a match-defining 131-run-stand.
Triggering the collapse – 35/5 inside the powerplay
Hayley wasn’t done. With Shabnim Ismail for company, the duo completely ratted RCB’s batting, picking up three and two wickets respectively, derailing the chase completely. Although Richa Ghosh smashed a few late runs, we were always with our noses well ahead.
Right then, Paltan, we are back. In style. In time. To bring home title #3!
