RCBvMI Report: Distraught, after giving it everything :(

Last ball. Two runs needed. Raj Angad Bawa had just bowled his heart out in the over. He had Rasikh Salam on strike. And he nailed a yorker, that Salam could only dig out down the ground, but then the vast outfield allowed him to come back for a second. Corbin Bosch ran in, aimed a flat throw to the keeper.

Alas.

The dive saw RCB through. The dive ended up leaving us absolutely distraught. A game of fine margins, decided by the finest of them. 💔

Oh the see-saw!

What a pendulum. Every ball, this game just kept switching sides. Just when we thought the game was done with a few big hits, a wicket came. Just when we thought a couple of wickets could seal it our way, a six came out of nowhere. It just was one of those days, one that produced an absolute gun contest.

That 19th over

18 runs were needed off 12 balls. The previous over had gone for 12, but had consumed the important wicket of Krunal Pandya. Jasprit Bumrah was trusted with the task of taking it deep. And through yorker after yorker, nailing them to utmost perfection, BOOM kept Romario Shepherd quiet, giving away just three runs. 💪🔥

Corbin Bosch: 4-0-26-4 👏

Defending 166, Deepak Chahar did what he always does – rock the opposition in the powerplay with his swing, getting Virat Kohli out for a duck and then producing a peach of a delivery to edge out Devdutt Padikkal. And then Corbin stepped in. Stepped up.

Rajat Patidar c Ryan Rickelton b Corbin Bosch 8(8)

Jacob Bethell c Tilak Varma b Corbin Bosch 27(27)

Jitesh Sharma c Naman Dhir b Corbin Bosch 18(12)

Tim David c Ryan Rickelton b Corbin Bosch 0(1)

He made sure MI kept coming back through the middle overs. 👊

Naman and Tilak counter-attack in style

From 28/3 in the third over, to come back and score 166 is a fine recovery. And we have Naman Dhir (47 off 32) and Tilak Varma (57 off 42) to thank, as the duo counter-attacked and put the pressure back on RCB’s bowlers with an 82-run stand.

Okay, this hurts bad. We felt we had the game. We felt we should have won it. But sport can be quite cruel. It’s never nice to end up on the wrong side of the result, but when the dust settles, the emotions withdraw, we’ll see what a proper fight our boys gave. The MI Spirit was out there for the world to witness, fighting till the very end, giving it everything in the field. Alas.. 😞
