Rohit Sharma: Enjoy batting with Quinton in the middle
Mumbai Indians registered their fifth consecutive win at Dream11 IPL 2020 as they defeated KKR by eight wickets at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
After reducing KKR to 148/5 in their quota of 20 overs, MI led by Quinton de Kock’s 78* (44) dominated the opposition bowlers from the word go. He ended up winning the Man of the Match award for the same.
Skipper Rohit Sharma shared his thoughts at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Rohit: Quinton likes to attack and I'm happy to take the back seat
“Clinical with the ball. Clinical with the bat. We turned up really well. I bowled both Krunal and Rahul to Andre. Took my chances with the ball turning. I believe we've got success reading and getting those match-ups right. My boys are very hungry. And they want to prove a point. Whenever they get an opportunity, they will do well.”
”Quinny shouldn't be thinking of what the team wants from him. He should continue batting in his preferred style. I enjoy batting with Quinny. He likes to attack and I'm happy to take the back seat.”
Hardik: I keep my batting simple - see the ball, hit the ball
“I work hard on my technique. I keep my batting simple - see the ball, hit the ball! I like to know about the factors which I am working on, and eventually, when it turns out pretty well, I enjoy it. I think the bowler is going bowl here, I prepare myself for that.”
Quinton: I was disappointed to not finish off the last game
“I have those leg-side shots in my armoury. It comes out naturally. It is just about keeping my balance and playing them as I see them. I was disappointed to not finish off the last game. I wanted to take my team home this time. Mahela can come hard at you if you do something ordinary.”
“I have played this game enough to know you can't do anything about it if you drop one. You have to carry on and do the best for your team. I am a better keeper than that, and don't drop catches on purpose so that is nothing to worry about."
