…And goes without saying, it’s a well-deserved tribute to a generational cricketer who has etched his name in the hearts of millions. 💙

Today, in the presence of his family, Rohit Sharma unveiled the stand dedicated to him — and you could see what it meant to him.

"What is going to happen today, I have never dreamed of. As a kid growing up, I wanted to play for Mumbai, for India," he said, soaking it all in.

For the Mumbai Indians <read: his pasandida franchise 😉>, he’s been the heartbeat. Period. Under his leadership, the team clinched five IPL titles and his cool, composed presence has time and again anchored match-winning innings.

"To have my name amongst the greats of the game, I cannot express what the feeling is. For that, I am really really grateful," he added, as the crowd and his close ones watched on, beaming with pride.

Now, with a stand bearing his name at the very stadium where many of those memories were created, it feels like the perfect salute. For a lad who once dreamed big, this moment comes full circle.

"It will be a surreal feeling on the 21st when I come here and play representing the Mumbai Indians, and to have a stand, it will be a very, very special feeling.

"It will even get more special while representing the country."
