Rohit vs Warner – The tale of two captains
Mumbai Indians will be taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their second clash this Sunday. The match promises to offer a lot of exciting moments as both teams are in fantastic form, after their initial stutters. There will be a lot of internal battles among the two, especially as Hyderabad won their first match of this IPL convincingly against the defending champions.
Both teams have had their share of injuries. MI lost Lasith Malinga and Lendl Simmons early in the tournament while SRH were missing the services of Yuvraj Singh, Ashish Nehra and Kane Williamson, in the first half of the tournament. The skippers have led by example as they have performed exceptionally well to lead their teams to the position they are in. Rohit Sharma and David Warner average a spectacular 63.83 and 68.33 respectively. Both skippers are aggressive in their batting and the same can be said about the way they leading their sides. The two captains are in the top -5 leading run scorers this season.
Rohit Sharma has made chasing his own, as he has guided MI to victory several times in the recent games. He has commanded his troops well, even after injuries to crucial team members. Even when things were not going his way,
Rohit stuck to his gut and the results are quite evident in the IPL standings.
On the contrary the Aussie opener has won many matches for SRH, by himself. He is someone who can single-handedly take the game away from the opposition. After the initial losses he resurrected his team’s form with a match-winning knock, to secure their first win against MI. Since then SRH has rallied behind Warner and now they stand fourth in the points table.
It will be a cracker of a match as Mumbai Indians will try to adjust to our new home while attempting to make the Sunrisers pay for their previous loss. Hyderabad will be looking to get a double win over Mumbai. Besides ego clashes, tomorrow’s match is special for another reason. It is the ‘Education for All” match where 3000 underprivileged children, from various schools and NGOs, will come to witness the action on the field. It will surely be an honour for the MI players to play for these kids and humbling as they bring a smile to their faces.
