“Can blow teams out if we sharpen up a little bit”: Rickelton
In an unfortunate turn of events, the boys faced a seven-wicket defeat against PBKS in their final league game of IPL 2025 to miss out on a chance to advance to Qualifier 1.
The result in Jaipur hasn’t gone our way, but there’s still plenty to fight for in the Eliminator, which is scheduled to take place on 30th May.
Our wicket-keeper batter Ryan Rickelton shared his thoughts on the contest in the post-match press conference, opining that his side fell short by a handful of runs while setting the target.
“We were 20 runs short. By saying that, I don't think we minded batting first and would have defended 200 with our bowling attack.
“I just think we lost wickets at crucial times of the game and therefore, we didn't manage to get that extra 20 runs. We weren't as clinical as we’ve been in the past.
“It's a bit of a wake-up call but I don't think it's the end of the world. If we sharpen up a bit, we can blow teams out of the water,” said Rickelton.
Moreover, the Southpaw also revealed how the conditions dictated the proceedings in this crucial encounter.
“There wasn't a lot of turn on offer, but I think the wind hustling across the ground made it easier to go harder at a ball that you might not necessarily go hard at if you're sent to the wicket with no wind.
“I guess it was more of a defensive role today [for the spinners] rather than an attacking one due to the conditions of the wickets and the size of the ground and the wind, which always makes a big difference in T20 cricket,” Rickelton stated.
To conclude, the opening batter added what needs to be done, as a unit, to come out good in the upcoming do-or-die game on Friday.
“In all honesty, the team is clicking really nicely. There are probably one or two things that we need to work on, with that ball and in the field. We have the skills in the group to make sure that we can win on Friday. The guys will be up for it.
“They'll definitely sharpen up and execute better, where we need to. I'm sure we'll be able to put in a good performance,” he finished.

So, it all comes down to this. The boys are up to give it their all in the Eliminator.
With the way the team has shown intent throughout the season, we believe we can make it to Qualifier 2 and eventually, the Finals. But, but, one game at a time… Our focus shifts on 30th May.
