Semi-final 2 | INDvENG preview: W @ Wankhede, let’s paint it Blue

Paltan, its finally time as the defending champions India, lock horns with England in a high voltage semi-final clash at Wankhede Stadium 🏟️. This is not just any venue… it is the fortress 💥. Cheers and chants, especially from the Paltan who’ll throng the stands in huge numbers will be louder than normal, while every boundary and maximum will feel even more personal at our home venue.

Both sides have equal momentum with victories coming off their last super eight encounters. But India looks the favourite to cross the winning line ✌️.This is familiar territory as the core of the Indian side, Aapla Suryakumar Yadav, Kung-Fu Pandya, Tilak Varma and Boom Boom Bumrah are all MI boys. Featuring in blue and gold, Will Jacks too will be familiar with the conditions at Wankhede.

England brings power and game awareness while India brings control and calmness in the middle. This is the third time (2026) both these sides are meeting each other during the semi-final stage at the T20 World Cup, the other two being in 2022 and 2024. 🤩

Look out for SKY’s supla shots, 360-degree stroke play and mammoth sixes as Adil Rashid’s crafty spin (11 wickets in 7 matches) will be looking to gain the upper hand. Surya bhau is India’s top scorer with 231 runs in 7 matches. Fans will also be rallying behind Boom’s variations, pace and yorker lengths during the powerplay and death overs as he has the best economy of 6.30 in the T20 World Cup so far. 💙💪

SKY and co will also be wary of opposition skipper Harry Brook being a punch ahead having scored a (51 ball 100) versus Pakistan earlier. TV will be looking to dominate in the middle overs being in rada macha denge walla mode.HP’s death overs carnage with the bat and adaptability to extract early swing with the new ball will hold key.

What: THE SEMI-FINAL | India vs England

When: March 5, 2026 | 7:00pm IST

What to expect: The men in blue possess a lot of left handers in their batting attack. All-rounder Will Jacks will hold key for the Englishmen, being in terrific form, having bagged 4 Player of the Match awards.
