SKY, Harshal help India Secure 3-0 Clean Sweep

The Eden Gardens hosted the final T20I between India and the West Indies. Kieron Pollard won the toss and elected to field first. Both teams made four changes to their sides. Avesh Khan made his debut. Shardul Thakur, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer were also brought in. The Windies brought in Shai Hope, Romario Shepherd, Hayden Walsh Jr. and Dominic Drakes.

Let’s take you through the key moments from an exciting game:

India get off to a flyer despite wobble:

Ishan Kishan finally found some form. He looked at his fluid best mercilessly hammering the bowlers to get to a brisk 34. Shreyas’ blitz also held us in good stead. However, it all started to come apart. Wickets tumbled in a heap and suddenly we were 93/4 in 13.5 overs.

SKY and Venkatesh lead resurgence:

Surya has been in terrific form off late and it continued in this game with him and Venkatesh taking the game away from the Windies. The way the wickets had slowed us down, our projected score was around 140. The duo smacked boundaries at will, decimating the Windies attack, and propelling India to a massive 184 run score.

Bowlers clinch victory for India:

Our seamers have been on song for a while now and shone bright again in a marvleoous display. Deepak Chahar got everything started with two wickets before hobbling off injured. Harshal took three spectacular wickets to swing the game in our favour. Shardul and Venkatesh also had two apiece. Pooran tried to take the game his team’s way with a fine knock in tandem with cameos from Powell and Shepherd but they eventually fell 17 runs short.

A convincing series win that ticked several boxes for Rohit and his men. He did say in his post-match interview that he wants to see improvement in the fielding department so we can track how that progresses in the forthcoming series against Sri Lanka. Overall, this team has passed this litmus test with flying colours.
