SVIS Borivali and Anjuman Islam storm into the semi-finals of MI Junior
Rishabh Gupta and Arnav Lad starred to help Swami Vivekanand International School, Borivali enter the semi-finals in the U-14 Boys category at the MI Junior Inter School Cricket tournament on Tuesday.
SVIS, Borivali registered an emphatic 210-run victory over Swami Vivekanand International School, Kandivali as Rishabh Gupta slammed a 100 off 76 while Arnav Lad returned with a five-wicket haul.
Rishab’s quick-fire ton helped SVIS Borivali to a respectable total of 268 in 40 overs. With the batters doing their job, it was now the bowlers' turn to shine for SVIS Borivali. Arnav Lad worked his magic with the ball and picked up 5 for 5 to bundle SVIS Kandivali for a measly 67 runs to record a handsome 210-run win and storm into the semis in style.
In the U-16 category, Abhigyan Kundu's superlative knock of 125 off just 90 balls helped Anjuman Islam (CST) thrash SVIS Kandivali by 177 runs and advance to the semis comfortably.
Abhigyan’s stroke-filled century guided Anjuman Islam to a commanding total of 299 in the stipulated 40 overs. In response, SVIS Kandivali fell 5 runs short of Abhigyan Kundu's score to be restricted to just 120 runs. Chirag Modak finished with figures of 4-20 and emerged as the chief architect of their downfall.
