INDvNAM report: Kishan, HP’s fifties, Varun special spoil Namibia’s party
The second “test” of India’s quest for the T20 Cup 2026 was a carnival. From India’s blitzkrieg start to Namibia’s fightback but eventual burnout, this fixture was just inches short of a one-sided cakewalk.
Put to bat first by Namibia, SKY che Men in Blue dashed forward to 50 runs in 4.3 overs and 100 runs in 6.5 overs thanks to Ishan Kishan (61 off 24 balls). Hardik Pandya’s morale-boosting 28-ball 52 helped India to a defendable score of 209/9.
For the visitors, Namibia began with a leap of faith, with 33 runs on the board in the first four overs. However, spin maestros Varun Chakravarthy (3/7) and Axar Patel (2/20) applied the brakes and scripted a 93-run victory.
We revisit how the game ensued.
Todfod headstart ft. Pocket Dynamo
Backed by Sanju Samson’s quick-fire 8-ball 22, opener Ishan Kishan lofted India to a jabardast 100 in 6.5 overs. The ‘Pocket Dynamo’ raced to his eighth T20I half-century inside 20 balls. This included his demolition run in the sixth over.

Namibia spins a HALT signal
Namibia skipper Gerhard Erasmus and Bernard Scholtz took charge in the middle, combining to claim three wickets (Ishan Kishan, SKY, and Tilak Varma) for 30 runs in those six overs. But while the HALT signal came in, something was brewing.
A H-igh P-owered knock ft. Hardik Pandya
Looking to help India pick up the pace, Kung Fu Pandya entered the fray and smashed his third T20 Cup half-ton in 27 balls. His cameo, which came at a strike rate of 185.71, set the tone for India to finish their innings at 209/9.
India’s first wicket, Arsh’s 250th T20 scalp
Facing a 40,000-plus crowd support at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Namibia made an ambitious start of 33 runs inside four overs. But their smiles didn’t last long as Arshdeep Singh drew the first blood for India.
The left-arm speedster bowled a 120 clicks knuckle ball which pushed Jan Frylinck to pull towards Shivam Dube at deep-midwicket. The dismissal would become Arshdeep’s 250th scalp in T20 cricket.
Namibia get trapped in Varun’s web
In his first 12 balls of his spell, Varun Chakravarthy laid out a net that caught not one, not two, but three crucial Namibia wickets.
First wicket: A wrong'un to Louren Steenkamp
Second wicket: Forcing Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton to miscue towards long-off
Third wicket: A googly to JJ Smit, who misses the on-the-rise slog sweep
The Ax-effect
After conceding 14 runs in his first over, Axar Patel upped the ante to turn the tables on Namibia. He began with a wicket maiden in the 11th over (his second) and then Malan Kruger’s scalp in the 13th over. And in case you missed it, our very own Jasprit Bumrah took a BRILLIANT leap of faith for an important catch!
….And then BOOM!
Bumrah would end the night wicketless. Really? NO, we were Jas joking! The Yorker Master did what he does best: a toe-crusher to send Ruben Trumpelmann back to the pavilion.
Lastly, Shivam Dube wrapped up the proceedings by forcing Zane Green into a rare unforced error, a hit wicket that brought the curtain down on Namibia's chase.
With this victory, Aapla Dada Surya and Team India are 2-0 in the T20 Cup 2026 and are 100 percent confident heading into their next game.
By the numbers, India scripted....
93 runs: The biggest win in the competition.
86-1: Their best powerplay score in the competition
6.5 overs: Fastest team 100 in T20 Cup history
Up next? India vs Pakistan.
