The IPL is back (home): League to kick off on March 26 in Mumbai and Pune

The news that we have all been eagerly waiting for is finally here - IPL 2022 is set to kick off on March 26 and the final will be played on May 29.

The league stages of IPL 2022 will be held in four venues in Maharashtra - 20 matches each at the Wankhede stadium and DY Patil stadium and 15 matches each at the Brabourne stadium and the MCA stadium in Pune.

All teams will play 4 matches each at the Wankhede and DY Patil stadiums and 3 matches each at the Brabourne and MCA stadiums.

The venues for the playoffs are yet to be determined.

The decision to restrict the IPL to only two cities was taken by the IPL Governing Council to reduce air travel risks in the times of COVID-19.

IPL 2022 will have ten teams competing - with the addition of the Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans.

Each team will play 14 league matches - twice against five teams and once against four other teams. The 10 teams have been divided into two groups with five teams in each group.

MI are slated to play two league matches each against KKR, RR, DC, LSG and CSK and one league match against SRH, RCB, PBKS and GT.

We cannot wait to get started, Paltan!
