Tim David is a very talented player: Ishan Kishan

Wicket-keeper and opener Ishan Kishan faced the media in the post-match press conference and answered questions about Tim David, his own form and the fine showing by Ramandeep Singh.
When asked about Tim David’s terrific power-hitting in recent games, Ishan was full of praise for David.
“From whatever I have seen of him, David takes his game very seriously. He does not just look to hit sixes, he plays the ball on merit and talks to the coaches a lot about his game. He knows he has to be at top gear from the get-go and his power helps him there, the bowler only needs to make a tiny mistake for the ball to go over the ropes. He is a really talented player,” stated Ishan.
On the question of not including Tim David for a few games in the playing XI in the middle of the season, Ishan noted that it was taken in the team’s best interests.
“The management always makes decisions that they feel is right for the team. It was unfortunate for David, yes, but it helped him prepare for Indian conditions. It gave him time to analyse himself and you can see the results for yourself,” he said.
The keeper-batter also had some words of encouragement for Ramandeep Singh, who shone with three wickets and a couple of lusty blows at the end.
“Ramandeep is a good player and if he works on himself, he could become a very good all-rounder,” he said.
On his own form, Ishan downplayed the notion that he had changed something within his game after a tough few games.
“It’s always about playing the situation - sometimes you have to go all out, sometimes you have to take your time to assess the wicket and the opposition. Each day and each game is different, so the batter also has to adjust accordingly, even the best players do it. It’s important to know your role in the team,” said Ishan.
A tough result to take in the end, especially after that late onslaught by Tim David, but a fighting performance gives us encouragement for the final game of the season on May 21st.
