Both scored 49 runs off the next couple of overs and another 30 runs in the final two overs to take the match to a Super Over. While Ishan was dismissed for 99 (58), Pollard stayed unbeaten on 60 from just 24 deliveries.

Power-hitting sensations

Put to bat first against KXIP, Rohit Sharma departed after scoring 70 (45). With MI being 129/4 after 17 overs and the pair of Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard at the crease, fireworks were expected but not to the extent that was delivered. While Hardik decided to hit everything he got out of the park, Pollard ended the penultimate over with three consecutive fours and the final over with three back-to-back sixes. MI ended up posting a total of 191/4 on the board.

Boom showdown

Bumrah's 4/20 vs RR at Abu Dhabi

Coming into bowl with the new ball in the second over, Jasprit Bumrah struck early as he got rid of RR skipper Steve Smith. After his two-over spell in the powerplay where he conceded just six runs, Bumrah was introduced later in the 16th over where he got two wickets in an over. In his final delivery, he got Jofra Archer's wicket to register his first-ever four-wicket haul in IPL.

Bumrah's 4/14 vs DC at Dubai

It was an important game for MI with the first Qualifier against Delhi Capitals. Bumrah struck early as he got the yorker right against man-in-form Shikhar Dhawan. In his next over, he got the better of Shreyas Iyer to put DC on backfoot. Later, he was introduced when Stoinis threatened to take the game away and accounted for his wicket on the very first delivery. He also had Daniel Sams edging one to the wicketkeeper to make it a double-wicket maiden. Bumrah bettered his record of 4/20 earlier in the tournament with figures of 4/14.

Polly-Coult sensational finish

Pollard and Coulter-Nile score 54 runs off the last three overs against KXIP at Dubai

Batting first, MI were struggling at 122/6 after 17 overs. That's when Kieron Pollard and Nathan Coulter-Nile rose to the occasion. Both added 54 runs in the last three overs as they steered MI to a total of 176/6. While Pollard scored a quickfire 34* (12), Coulter-Nile also played a fine cameo with 24* (12).

Lightning strikes!

Boult's best bowling figures vs CSK at Sharjah

Trent Boult's efficiency with the new ball has been quite evident throughout the Dream11 IPL 2020. However, his best came against arch-rivals CSK. He started off with a wicket-maiden over by trapping Ruturaj Gaikwad in front of the stumps. In his next over, Boult had his opening partner Faf du Plessis edging one to the wicketkeeper. He then accounted for Jadeja's wicket as CSK were left reeling at 21/5 inside the powerplay. Boult then bowled Sam Curran with a yorker on the final delivery of the innings to finish with 4/18.

Assimilation of the Yellows

Quinton-Ishan's unbeaten 116-run partnership propels MI to a ten-wicket victory against CSK at Sharjah

With CSK restricted to 114/9, the MI batsmen had an easy job in their hands. However, the openers decided to take responsibility and unleashed themselves on the opposition bowlers. With skipper Rohit Sharma missing out due to an injury, the new opening duo of Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock took the bowlers to the cleaners. Both batsmen finished the job in 12.2 overs to give MI their second ten-wicket victory in IPL history.

Kung-Fu Pandya strikes it big

Hardik's 60* (21) against RR at Abu Dhabi

With Pollard dismissed early, the finishing onus fell upon Hardik Pandya. Batting first, MI had put up 138/4 on board in 17 overs. Hardik slammed four sixes off Ankit Rajpoot in the 18th over to get going. In the final over, the hard-hitting batsman launched his assault on Kartik Tyagi as he hit three sixes and two boundaries in the last five balls to take MI to a total of 195/5 on board. Striking at a rate of 285.71, Hardik scored a ravishing knock of 60* (21).

Surya conquers RCB

Suryakumar Yadav's 79* (43) vs RCB at Abu Dhabi

Suryakumar Yadav who has been on song with the bat in the past few years continued to display his consistency levels this season as well. However, the stand-out knock has to be the one that came against the Kohli-led RCB side. Walking out to bat in the sixth over, he started his innings cautiously before getting a move on. MI were chasing a total of 165 as they kept losing wickets regularly. However, Suryakumar Yadav batted like a rock from the other end and single-handedly powered MI to the target. He finished in style with a boundary followed by a nonchalant celebration in the middle.

ThunderBoom domination

Overs: 109.2

Wickets: 49

Throughout the tournament, MI's fast-bowling duo of Boult and Bumrah has created a knack of picking wickets consistently every time the captain has brought them into the attack. Both pacers have picked a total of 49 wickets between themselves in 14 games. The fiery combination of a left-arm and right-arm pacer bowling in tandem has worked in MI's favor and helped them achieve tremendous success.
