Women’s T20 World Cup 2026: Kaptaan Kaur’s ODI Champions out to conquer T20 title
Champions do not stop at one crown; they always possess more hunger to keep giving their best and add more to their cabinet 🔥. The Indian Women’s team arrives in England not as hopeful contenders but as proven champions and match winners. Fresh from their 50 over triumph at home, the Women in Blue head into this T20 World Cup carrying the same confidence and belief. From explosive openers to crafty spinners, wicket taking pacers to proven finishers, this Indian women’s team is special having both balance and depth. It is now time to turn dominance into dynasty by bringing the trophy home and completing the set. Stepping onto English soil, Harmanpreet Kaur’s girls know that history is within touching distance.🏆
The heartbeat of Indian cricket, our very own skipper and Mumbaichi Mulgi Harmanpreet’s top-notch leadership, experience and the ability to win games single-handedly makes her unstoppable. Calm under pressure, backing her players and leading from the front with the bat makes her one of a kind. Her deputy, Smriti Mandhana…the elegant aggressive batter at the top makes her one of the most dangerous upfront. Her experience against pace and spin especially during the powerplay will hold key.
Shafali Verma will be looking to play her fearless brand of cricket and put opposition bowlers under pressure. Jemimah Rodrigues brings flexibility to the middle order while her sharp running between the wickets will help accelerate the runs. The Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma offers control with the ball, reliability with the bat and an exceptional cricketing brain. The stylish left hander, Yastika Bhatia adds the perfect balance to the batting line up and can anchor the innings while also showcasing great wicketkeeping abilities. While Renuka Singh Thakur, India’s new ball specialist has the ability to swing the ball both ways making her a major threat in English conditions.
Speaking at the captains press conference in England, Kaptaan Kaur spoke about the glorious moment of India winning the ODI World Cup at home. “It was a great moment for all of us; we had been waiting for that moment for so many years. Good to see that we won it after years of hard work. This tournament is equally important and everyone is shaping up well and hopefully we will play our best cricket.” Talking about adapting to T20 cricket, Harman added, “T20 is about adapting as soon as possible because it is quite fast and one does not get much time to settle down. You just have to play fearlessly.”👊
Harman has played every edition of the World Cup and shares her thoughts on this one being bigger and better than ever. She said, “Yes, every year cricket is growing and more women are now playing the sport. More girls want to watch us play the game and are inspired by us.”
“Yes definitely. This time we will give our best and give ourselves a fair chance to recreate history and win the World Cup and hopefully go back home with positive memories.”
India possesses a squad capable of conquering the world. The T20 crown is calling girls…Enjoy the game, play fearlessly and most importantly for the badge. One dream and a billion hearts behind you. Bring the cup home!💙
