65 off 38: Matthews magic drops at The Hundred 2023!

Welsh Fire's season opener against the Manchester Originals got rained off. But when they faced the Southern Brave, our MVP Hayley Matthews was in scintillating form! She played a spectacular innings, scoring a quick 65 off 38 balls with 13 boundaries, before being caught and bowled by another one in the #OneFamily, Chloe Tryon. This is just the start though. Beware!

Harmanpreet Kaur debuts for the Rockets

Aapli Harmanpreet Kaur's return to The Hundred with the Trent Rockets after her brief stint with the Manchester Originals in the inaugural edition brought promising signs. In the curtain raiser against the Southern Brave, the Rockets needed 158 for victory after a Smriti-Chloe special. Harmanpreet played a crucial role with her 22 off 17 balls, rescuing the team from early trouble, though they couldn't secure the win. Her brief stay though has us certain that there are many match-winning knocks just around the corner.

NSB picks off from where she left!

Skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt has been on fire, carrying her brilliant form from the Women's Ashes series to The Hundred! In the season opener against the Southern Brave, Nat showcased her batting prowess, top-scoring for the Rockets with a quick 49 off 31 balls, including 7 boundaries and a maximum. Despite her efforts, the team couldn't chase down the target of 158, but Nat's contribution ensured they put up a strong fight, ending with a respectable total of 130.

Tryon turning outcomes at The Hundred!

Our swashbuckling Saffa all-rounder has set The Hundred ablaze with her outstanding performances! Turning up for the Southern Brave in the opener against Nat-led Trent Rockets, her unbeaten 23 off just 10 balls powered the Brave to a formidable total of 157. Despite going wicketless, her economical bowling, conceding only 19 runs off 20 balls, played a crucial role as the Rockets fell 27 runs short.

Against Welsh Fire, Chloe's prized wicket of Hayley Matthews proved vital, however, the Brave narrowly missed a record run chase. The Brave bounced back with a win against Northern Superchargers, and once again, she stole the spotlight, claiming 2 wickets and guiding the team to victory with her 13* off 8 balls.

Issy has the last laugh against Jemimah

Issy Wong, our star seamer, played a key role in Birmingham Phoenix's season opener against the Northern Superchargers! Not only did Wongi contribute with some valuable late runs (9), helping the team post a total of 110, but she also had a memorable moment with the ball. Despite being punished with boundaries off Jemimah's blade, Wongi had the last laugh by dismissing the aggressive Indian batter. Unfortunately, in the following game against the Trent Rockets, persistent rain played spoilsport, and the match was abandoned.

Rain continues to beat Melie Kerr

Oh, what a frustrating start for aapli Melie and the London Spirit in The Hundred! It must have been exciting for her to reunite with the team, but unfortunately, the English weather had other plans. The scheduled match against Oval Invincibles and then the one against Manchester Originals were both affected by rain, leading to a disappointing outcome with both games being rained off and abandoned.
