13 matches, 20 wickets - It’s Bumrah’s world, and we’re just living in it

By Mumbai Indians

Amidst the challenges, amidst the disappointment of our campaign in IPL 2024, our very own BOOM BOOM, had a dream campaign. In a season dominated by high scores, Jasprit Bumrah's exceptional bowling instilled fear in the hearts of the batters, making him a shining star in an otherwise tough season.

He showcased his brilliance with 20 wickets in 13 matches and an impressive economy rate of 6.48, standing out in a season dominated by high scores. An example of his brilliance was against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where despite their massive total of 277 runs, Bumrah conceded just 36 runs in his 4 overs, showcasing his ability to control the run flow. Well, we knew his genius all along, didn’t we? It’s just that we saw it at work, again!

Oh, and we witnessed a series of memorable dismissals through the season. In the opening game, his slower delivery to David Miller was a delight to behold, demonstrating his finesse. Earlier in the same match, he sent Wriddhiman Saha packing with a blistering yorker, giving him  no chance to react. Against Delhi Capitals, amidst Prithvi Shaw's onslaught, Bumrah produced another gem—a toe-crushing yorker that shattered Shaw's stumps, turning the tide in our favour.

Mahipal Lomror fell victim to Bumrah's lethal yorker, meeting the same fate as Saha. Then came Rilee Rossouw, who had no answer to his late-swinging full delivery, losing his stumps in the process. In a moment  reminiscent of the one in the Big Bash League where we saw Glenn Maxwell leaving a ball and watching his stumps getting knocked back, Bumrah dismissed Sunil Narine with a similar sharp inswinger, leaving him surprised as he shouldered arms, with zero time to react and realize what hit him! By far the best of the lot.
