5/21 – Reliving the BOOM masterclass against RCB, IPL 2024
Our very own Boom delivers magical spells in Blue and Gold, 💙
Sending shock waves and shivers down oppositions tenfold. 🤯
With yorkers so tight, it was his night. 💥
No noise, no drama…just precision rare, 🤌
JB owned the moment versus RCB like none can compare. 👊
Some bowling performances change a game; some define a night. 11th April 2024 is a day that is etched in the memory of Paltan forever. As Mumbai Indians took on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Wankhede, Jasprit Bumrah delivered a brilliant masterclass. He snapped up 5/21 in his 4 overs spell with an economy of just 5.25 and was awarded the POTM award, thus stamping his authority all over the contest. 🥶
Every ball was bowled with a purpose and every wicket helped the men in blue and gold threads, inch closer towards a victory at their fortress. With history waiting to be created in the wings, JB just did not bowl…in fact he set his own narrative in the middle and was rewarded with his best bowling figures. Indeed, it was a spell for the ages that became a statement. When the game gets tighter and Paltan cheers louder, Boom gets even more deadlier with complete command over his craft. 💪
First, he grabbed the prized wicket of the man in form ☝️Virat Kohli, giving us the perfect breakthrough. He then picked skipper ☝️Faf du Plessis while he was batting on 61. This cut short RCB’s opening partnership at the top. Just when it looked like they found some momentum in the middle to rebuild their innings, Bumrah dismantled the lower middle order by taking the wickets of ☝️Mahipal Lomror, ☝️Saurav Chauhan and ☝️Vijaykumar Vyshak. He slowly closed the door for Bengaluru. His yorkers, short balls and even slower deliveries with pace off were a pleasure to watch in the center.
Earlier, batting first RCB notched up 196/8 in 20 overs. Bumrah made sure none of the other batters were able to settle down and score big runs. In reply, MI chased down their total, 199/3 in 15.3 overs. Suryakumar Yadav slammed 52 off 19 and skipper Hardik struck a cameo knock of 21* in just 6 balls. MI won the game by 7 wickets with 27 balls to spare. Back then, this was the 50th win for Mumbai Indians at Wankhede, the first team to reach 50 wins in the IPL at a venue.👏
As JB weaved his miraculous web around the batters, he is also the current highest wicket taker for MI versus RCB with 29 wickets. Signed, sealed, and delivered by our superhero Boom Boom! 🎇
