All-round India trounce Lanka at Holkar

By Mumbai Indians

The Men in Blue emerged victorious against Sri Lanka in the second T20I at Indore. Skipper Virat Kohli won his second toss in a row as India elected to field first.

Here are five talking points after the second T20I:-

Jasprit Bumrah makes his comeback

After the first T20I game at Guwahati was washed out, Jasprit Bumrah finally made his much awaited return in the Indian colours. The right-arm pacer bowled a slower one to castle Dasun Shanaka. He returned with figures of 1/32 from his full quota.

SL begin well but falter

Avishka Fernando began strongly and was later followed by Kusal Perera who scored quick runs. However, the Sri Lankan batsmen kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were restricted to 142/9.

Navdeep Saini delivers

Navdeep Saini who went for 10 runs in his first over came back strongly to concede just 8 runs from his next three overs. He also got a couple of wickets in the form of opener Danushka Gunathilaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa.

Shardul Thakur strikes thrice in the penultimate over

Bowling the penultimate over, Shardul Thakur first had Dhananjaya de Silva caught at mid-off. He then finished the over with back-to-back wickets of Isuru Udana and skipper Lasith Malinga.

Strong batting performance by the hosts

KL Rahul carried his good form into 2020 as he scored a splendid 45 from just 32 balls. Shreyas Iyer also made a significant contribution before skipper Virat Kohli finished things off in style.

While India will go to Pune with another series win in mind, Lasith Malinga’s men will look to draw level.
