After the first T20I game at Guwahati was washed out, Jasprit Bumrah finally made his much awaited return in the Indian colours. The right-arm pacer bowled a slower one to castle Dasun Shanaka. He returned with figures of 1/32 from his full quota.

SL begin well but falter
Avishka Fernando began strongly and was later followed by Kusal Perera who scored quick runs. However, the Sri Lankan batsmen kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were restricted to 142/9.

Navdeep Saini who went for 10 runs in his first over came back strongly to concede just 8 runs from his next three overs. He also got a couple of wickets in the form of opener Danushka Gunathilaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa.
