AUSvIND, 1st ODI: Oh No! A tough start in rain-interrupted clash

By Mumbai Indians

The India tour of Australia 2025 began on a disappointing note for Shubman Gill and Co., going down by seven wickets in a rain-curtailed encounter in Perth.

Although there were a few positives from the Indian players, it was the Aussies who took advantage of a handful of key moments to take the game home.

Here’s how the series’ curtain raiser panned out:

A below-par total amidst rain breaks

It seemed as if the rain gods weren’t happy with Team India’s early wickets, disturbing the game time and again.

However, Axar (31 off 38), KL Rahul (38 off 31) and debutant Nitish’s cameo (19 off 11) pulled things back, helping the visitors put 136/9 on the board.

HEAD-ache averted early on

Travis Head - the name itself is enough to annoy the Indian fans.

Nonetheless, Arshdeep Singh dismissed the opener early in the run chase, who departed after hitting a couple of boundaries.

Australia go 1-0 up

After 1/10, Josh Philippe’s 29-ball 37, coupled with his skipper’s contributions, took the game away from India.

The chase was completed within 22 overs, with Mitchell Marsh remaining unbeaten on 46.

Koi nahi, boys, let’s make amends in our next meeting in Adelaide on Thursday, October 23! 🙌
