#CWC23 | INDvNZ: Time to correct the one-inch-short demons of 2019

By Mumbai Indians

Dominance vs choking, strategy vs panic, dynamism vs expectations and all possible adjectives will run in the air when India and New Zealand clash at the Wankhede Stadium for the 2023 ODI World Cup semi-final on November 15.

The teams will enter their 10th CWC matchup on the back of opposite finishes on the points table - with India topping the charts (nine wins in nine games) and the Black Caps finishing fourth (five wins in nine matches).

So, who has the momentum? INDIA. The positive advantage of the head-to-head record in ODIs (59 wins in 117 matches) and the H2H in World Cup meetings on home soil (three victories in three contests - twice in 1987 and once in 2023) ensures that the Men in Blue are poised to make it 10 wins in 10 games at CWC23.

However, here comes the disclaimer. New Zealand has a slender lead in the H2H of World Cup meetings with India (5-4, overall) and the psychological advantage of being finalists in the last two CWC editions (runners-up in 2015 and 2019).
