“Becomes easy when you bowl with world-class partners”: Chahar on being part of JCB trio

By Mumbai Indians

Paltan, did you enjoy that splendid 100-run victory over Rajasthan Royals?! Coz we certainly did, watching our boys BOULT their way to the TOP OF THE TABLE!!! 🤩

Simply put, it was a 99.99% perfect performance with every department on 🔝 of their game, not letting the home team free their hands at any point in the game.

Defending 217, the second innings couldn’t have started any better as Deepak Chahar got the better of teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the opening over itself… and from that moment, there was absolutely no looking back.

Appearing in the post-match press conference, Deepak भाऊ spoke about his side’s performance and the ‘recipe’ of a commanding win!

“I think we're playing good cricket as a unit… everybody is in form and has contributed nicely in the last eight to nine matches.

“When you're performing as a team and you have confidence, then you can take some extra time to settle in. So, I think it's the collective teamwork that was on display,” said Chahar.

Talking about the top-of-the-table wali feeling, Deepak opined about how the ‘momentum’ being in MI’s favour has helped their surge following an underwhelming start to the season.

“I think it's good to be on the top. When you finish in the top two, you get an extra chance. Also, the momentum is with us. As a player and as a team, you try to focus on one game at a time without thinking about the result. We take each match on its merit and are already focusing on the next one [vs GT],” he said.

Meanwhile, Chahar also praised his pace-bowling partners Bumrah and Boult, relishing the prospect of playing alongside the duo.

“When you're bowling with world-class partners, it becomes easy for you, because if you have a bad over, they are there to back you up by chipping in with breakthroughs. It then becomes easy for me to come and bowl to the new batter.

“These guys have done well in international cricket and that experience is helping me. When you bowl as a group, it becomes difficult for the opposition,” Chahar concluded.
