England, India resume rivalry at Lord's

By Mumbai Indians

England and India are all set to continue the cricketing action in the second Test at the Home Of Cricket.

The first Test match at Trent Bridge was headed for an exciting finish before rain washed out the entire Day Five. The spirits in both the camps would be high to gain early momentum in the five-match Test series.

Team India who are in England for the last couple of months have already been acclimatized to the conditions. They will look to make the best of it. The Virat Kohli-led side has been in supreme form in red-ball cricket recently. They held the number one position in the ICC Test rankings before the WTC final.

We take you through some of the talking points ahead of the second Test.

Ups and Downs for India at Lord's

Team India registered a historic win at Lord's back in 2014. Ajinkya Rahane scored a match-winning ton while Ishant achieved his career best figures of 7/74.

However, their last outing in 2018 wasn't quite memorable where they suffered an innings loss inside just 170.3 overs. James Anderson finished with a nine-wicket haul while Chris Woakes scored an unbeaten ton.

One Man Army in Joe Root

The England batting seemed to be a bit over-reliant on Joe Root during the first Test. The skipper bailed out the hosts in both innings with scores of 64 and 109. It will be interesting to see how the rest of their batting lineup copes up with the Indian pace attack.

Shardul to miss second Test

Shardul Thakur is going to miss the second Test after suffering a hamstring injury. Ishant Sharma took part in the training session with the team at Lord's and is likely to be included in the playing XI. However if he isn't fit yet, Umesh Yadav is also a viable option.

There's also the option of Ravichandran Ashwin if India decide to go with two spinners.

Anderson, Broad doubtful starters for second Test

England are likely to miss their pace stalwarts James Anderson and Stuart Broad at Lord's. Mark Wood in all likelihood will feature alongside Moeen Ali who was recalled to the squad. The home team may also bring in a debutant in the form of Saqib Mahmood.

Rahul, Bumrah in good form

KL Rahul impressed with his batting performance while Jasprit Bumrah rolled back to form, with a nine-wicket haul at Trent Bridge. Both will be keen to continue their brilliance for the rest of the series.
