From 2013-2024, the Jasprit Bumrah road to greatness
With 165 wickets in 133 IPL games, it’s no doubt that our very own Jassi, is right up there among the greatest ever bowlers to have played the IPL. Making his IPL debut in 2013, he famously trapped Virat Kohli LBW to claim his first wicket. Notably, his 100th IPL wicket was also Virat Kohli, achieved in 2020. Starting with three wickets in his debut season, Bumrah's performances absolutely took off 2016 onwards. His best season came in the Championship winning campaign in 2020 when he took 27 wickets in 15 games.
This year, when team scores were going through the roof, thanks to the Impact Player rule, and nearly every bowler was taken to the cleaners, Jasprit Bumrah was in a league of his own, staying economical, staying among the wickets. As we now head into the T20 World Cup, India will be desperate for him to bring this form over, and carry India to that elusive ICC title.
Let's take a closer look at how he’s gone about over the years...
