When cricket’s grandest theatre was looking for its superstar, our very own Ro-Hitman Sharma put his hand up and delivered a masterclass show with the bat, which eventually got a standing ovation at the Home of Cricket, Lord’s during the third ODI between England versus India on 19th July 2026. Rohit scored his 34th ODI ton that is 138 in 110 deliveries, aced with 17 fours and five sixes. A special knock indeed which has now become part of cricket folklore. Rohit also finds his name entering the Lord’s Honours Board. 💙🥳

Grace met power, patience met precision as Hitman scripted history as the first Indian to score an ODI century at Lord’s. Every cover drive was poetry, while his pull shots represented authority and every boundary was a reminder that when the king is in action, even the game sits back and applauds an iconic top effort. En route, he also topped the list of scoring most ODI hundreds in a visiting country, eight.

When he walked out to open the innings for India, he realised the task was a herculean one as the visitors were looking to chase 388 runs in fifty overs for a win. He started off cautiously, took his time to settle down and then the world witnessed the Rohit Sharma magic. He never allowed the score board pressure to dictate terms. Instead, he did what he has done for years, making the impossible look effortless. Operating in complete control, every over shifted moment while his boundaries lifted India’s hopes as each one believed…If Rohit remained till the very end, India could win.

Calm, composed and smacking the ball effortlessly defined his batting that was on full display. When he got going in the middle, the bowlers ran out of ideas, the scoreboard struggled to keep pace as he created moments that gen next will remember for a long time to come. Lord’s witnessed countless legends walking through its gates and our very own Mumbaicha Raja once again proved that class is permanent and greatness is defined by hard work. Even today, the hunger to represent the country and walk out in blue burns brighter than ever as records continue to tumble. 💪

Speaking to bcci.tv after the game, Rohit said, “My job is with the bat, come play, represent my country and team. That is what I have been told to do since I made my debut. The noise, since I made my debut, was there. Till the time I am going to stay here, it is always going to be there. So, it doesn’t really matter too much. What matters is what I do on the field. Try and contribute to the success of the team. That’s all my focus right now. Let the noise be there…if there is no noise, there is no fun.” 

On cricket’s most iconic stage, Sharmaji ka beta reminded the world that legends do not simply play the game, they leave it richer with fans wanting them to do well every time they take the field. 💙
