INDvENG, ODIs preview: Final preps with Champions Trophy in sight
Paltan, it’s time to switch into ODI mode for the next month or so! <Before our festive season begins, #IYKYK> 😌
The Indian cricket team romped to a 4-1 win in the recently concluded T20I series against England and will be eager to extend their form in the longer format of the game.
Since the terrific ICC ODI World Cup 2023 campaign (minus the loss in the final 😢), Team India has played just two series in the 50-over format and both were scheduled away from home.
While the tour of South Africa in December 2023 ended 2-1 in our favour, the three-match series versus Sri Lanka in August 2024 saw the Lankans emerge victorious by 2-0 after a thrilling tie in the opening encounter.
With the lack of game time for the players in ODIs post the ICC World Cup 2023, these three games will help Rohit Sharma and Co. to assess the right combination & fine-tune the squad ahead of the all-important ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Talking about the upcoming series, it will be the first occasion since the ICC World Cup 2023 league phase that the two sides are set to lock horns in ODIs.
That encounter, amidst a terrific run of results, went India’s way by 100 runs as आमच्या RO was adjudged as the Player of the Match, completing two milestones in the process! 💪
