Every new series brings with it a clean slate. India are all set to switch gears into ODI mode as West Indies tour India. The stage is set for the Men in Blue to turn the page and add another successful chapter under skipper Shubman Gill. Three matches, three different venues and one big challenge…It is time for the hosts to adapt quickly and make their mark in the white ball format. The series begins on 27th September 2026 in Thiruvananthapuram before moving to Guwahati and New Chandigarh.

The last ODI series between these two sides was held in August 2023. India has the edge in the head-to-head record. 142 matches in total have been played; India won 72 games while West Indies won 64. Two games have been tied while four never produced a result.

Shubman will be looking to lead from the front. Yashasvi Jaiswal will be keen to give India the perfect start especially during the powerplay. His ability to control an innings, build partnerships and accelerate when necessary… will hold key. The return of our very own Ro-Hitman Sharma adds valuable experience and firepower. He indeed has the ability to change the game at any juncture in the contest. While on the other hand, Virat Kohli’s proven ability to build an innings, control chases and own big moments will strike out. KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel provide the wicket-keeping batter options, adding depth to the squad.

Paltan, watch out for Naman Dhir who will be rearing to prove a point in the middle, if given a chance. From domestic cricket to Mumbai Indians, India A to Sher-E-Punjab T20 and now his maiden ODI call-up…Naman’s ability to bat wherever the team needs him along with his ability to bowl makes him a special talent. While Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravindra Jadeja give India the luxury of flexibility. Kuldeep Yadav could be one of the biggest weapons in the middle, his variations can turn the match on its head. Finally, the pace trio of Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar will look to give early breakthroughs with the new ball.

MI fans will also have their watchful eyes on West Indies all-rounder, Sherfane Rutherford who will feature in the opposite camp bringing power and the attacking option in the line-up.  

The stage is set and the challenge awaits as it is finally time for India to put their best foot forward. As for us, we will always be cheering the loudest. INDIA, INDIA!
